Ethan, if you do that you will have to listen to an even higher frequency sound.
He would have to listen to that anyway judging by what Tom said in the last panel.

Didn’t this comic do exactly the opposite of that? Ethan’s body didn’t die. This comic only confirms that Tom has no idea what just happened.
Strange, Ethan didn’t seem too worried that he could have killed his body. Is it the siren body that is at fault?
Why all the hate for Tom? He might do some unethical things but he does seem to malicious and he does help people when they come to him.

He’s not malicious, but he’s immoral and not exceedingly competent. I’ve ranted about Tom a few times in the past, I’ll do it again. Based on the shit Tom’s done, he should not be working at HRC, and should probably be in prison.
When we first meet Tom, his immoralness does not affect the main characters, but we do see shortly thereafter that he delays repairs on a TG gun that has genderflopped one of his co-workers, and later takes ‘her’ to the celebrity auction to have her make him some money. Yes, that’s right, he tries to PIMP OUT HIS CO-WORKER. Now he does pay for this later by being briefly genderflopped himself by the victim, but normally that would get you fired. He then, while working on Honey’s Helix, pulls up Bay’s already unstable Helix and accidentially starts changing that one instead of Honey’s. Now, in Tom’s defense, he had been up about 30 hours straight at that point. However, he was the one that gave honey enough knowledge to hang herself with in the hopes of scoring with her.
Next we learn that Tom was the one that found Crystal the next morning, muted her, falsified her past, and sent her out willy-nilly into the world. While we like Crystal, later upon dealing with Dawn he wants to do the exact same thing to her. That’s right, because David is infected with the Siren virus, Tom wants to MUTE him, MIND WIPE him, and send HER back out into the world…effectively KILLING the person we know as David. Furthermore, neither are a long term solution to the problem, as he just explained that the Siren virus is genetically transferable from mother to child, meaning that if Crystal or Dawn had children, they’d have the virus. Not very smart.
We then get a flashback to Tom as an intern, working on Bay’s first attempt to return to being Brad. Apparently, He created Crystal’s background back then, and was told by his superior at the time that using it would be unethical. Which he therefore did anyway when he got the chance. While Brad is getting recompiled, he tries to open up a “Dixie Girl” personality profile he’s been working on, opens bays profile instead and essentially overlays it on Bay. This has PERMANENT EFFECTS on Bay, including the changing of her sexuality, giving her that weakness for muscular guys. THIS EVENT ALONE should have gotten Tom fired from HRC.
The next thing Tom does is create Dawnie. While this is Honey’s idea, he does this this without the consent of David, the person whose genetics he’s mostly using. This is very VERY unethical, and NEVER should have happened without David’s consent. He also added the “Dixie” persona to Dawnie, which I personally consider a crime, not because I dislike a deep south accent, but I feel that one’s accent should be the product of one’s upbringing.
Finally, we see that Tom is again researching Siren’s, even though his mentor told him that in retrospect it never should have been done. He does this fully knowing the dangers and willing to risk the siren virus getting loose to further his research. That and human experimentation.
Tom is very much an “ends justifies the means” and “Knowedge gains outweighs the risks” researcher, which puts him on a “mad scientist” level.
In short, he’s a monster.
Also, if the owner of the black hat was who I think they were, Tom is going to give Bay’s life another awkward twist.
