Typo: you have voice “modulation” spelled as “mondulation”.

Anyway, some kind of external device that would let Crystal speak like a normal person would be interesting (assuming that CD is not planning to keep her as a silent character). Hopefully it won’t be too bulky or visually distracting, but having it fail or be taken away (or just run out of battery power) at an inconvenient time would make for story fodder too.

Um… there’s definitely no extra “n” in “modulation”. And no, I haven’t edited the page. I think you must have read it wrong.

And yeah, I definitely like the idea of Crystal being given a device that would let her talk. She clearly *can*, but decides not to because of her power.

it wouldn’t be that hard or bulky the main character of I MY ME Strawberry Eggs Uses one and it’s just a choker like Honey is wearing. and after years of being mute what Crystal have to say?

Law of Narrative says that it will be exactly as bulky and visually obtrusive as the plot demands. If CD plans for Crystal to be inconvenienced by it, then it will be inconvenient to use. If he plans for her to wear it all the time and be able to speak normally most of the time, then it will be small and convenient.

Have you *seen* the size of the super special awesome tech in this comic? The original bodyswap device was a massive hogdepodge, and the new one is apparently the size of a large laser printer.

Going by past experiences, I’d say that Crystal’s modulator would probably look like a trumpet or something hilarious like that.

I’ll give you props for the I MY ME reference, though. Loved that show.

It could also be small but have wacky malfunctions.

    Pizza. The universal comfort food.

Monica’s Doubt personal demon (in Wapsi Square) was giving her a hard time until Monica said “Dammit! I just want to order a pizza!”

And all of a sudden Doubt was all like “Pizza?!? Why didn’t you say?.. I’ll dial!”

Robert, are you saying that the first appearance of Crystal, in the Helices arc, was a body-swap device? I had always interpreted that arc as Honey being transformed into a pink-haired siren, especially given the context of the arc of helicies being messed with, and then later turned back, and then at the end Crystal was essentially a new person created from the process, kind of like EGS’s Elliot (Honey) and Ellen (Crystal) relationship. If you say Crystal always existed separately, well that’s a different reading than I had made.

I may have misspoken. I was referring to the arc where David and Crystal swapped the first time. Did the bodyswap device appear before then? It’s been a really long time, and my memory isn’t the greatest.

I recall the story you refer to but not the device in question; however I recall that with the Honey and Auction Guy swap it was suitcase-sized.
