Bay Smith is a main character. Once a guy, she was turned into a girl several years ago. She keeps this fact a secret, and only a handful of people know.
She's now a struggling actress whose roommate is actually her daughter from an alternate future timeline.
1) Brad would be jealous of Bay getting to keep the life she’s currently living, with the man she loves.
2) Bay would be jealous of Brad getting to be a man again.
hkmaly – I’ve mentioned at least once that EGS is about the ONLY place I’ve seen that work, and in part involved a “magic nose beep” to give Ellen a new life, and a separate identity. We don’t know if pre-awakened Elliott was gender-fluid to make the full male-to female conversion on his own. Ellen was going to try, but we have no idea what would happen six months to a year down the road if “nose beep” hadn’t happened. Ellen had already started to show signs of depression.
The solution is obvious: Get a TG gun, watch, or wand from Tedd Verres, the Magical Mad Scientist of Moperville. That way Bay can be Brad whenever, and vice-versa. Or find the Dewitchery Diamond for the HRC universe (gotta be one somewhere–although we have the jealousy problem between Bay and Brad with that route. On the other hand, Bay never has to tell his mom she was Brad, and Bay never has to tell Auction Guy she was Brad.
Say, can the HRC do a functional hermaphrodite? Just a thought…
Of course, we can’t have Bay/Brad just being honest with his mom and with the guy she loves and was about to marry. Also Honey, but by now Honey should have some familiarity with the Brad thing, even if she’s still putting it off as a delusion.
Furthermore, let’s grant the archived copy includes the metadata included in the DNA taken from the hat: Brad returns BUT it’s Brad just before the change.
Translation: Brad Smith returns but Brad from a few years back, no true certain memory of the ongoing events; he’ll believe the old Sailor Sun show is on & wonders what’s taking them so long to change him.
When he’s appraised of all the events that’ve befallen up to that point, he’ll no doubt have panic attacks, go in shock, collapse & even go catatonic due to the truth both of time passage & the events thereof.
Bob’s reply to Jimmybanthrall kind of includes this horrifying paradox of reality.
Couple that with the immediate possible deportation back to Canada which’ beasevere blow, not only to his male ego/psyche but leave him essentially friendless as he’d’ve no clue where his mom is currently.
His friend, with his alternate female counterpart who’s with him, might be able to help him but overall there’d be a severe life reset of all sorts.
The change back could be done but if you try to include some of the current metadata/series acquisition life programming of the last few years, Brad’ll likely wind up somewhat bisexual. That, in itself, will cause him no end of grief because then he’s back to square one where his future relationships go.
Even with therapy he’ll be psychologically screwed up for years with two sets of mindsets in operation within him.
Possibly castration to reduce overall any sex drive and even some drug therapy.
This whole business by HRC has mucked things up royally BUT when CD & Bob came up with last year’s April Foolscomicabout the massive hit job, one can’t help ponder if maybe that’d be either Mom ending all of this by popping new Brad/Brady/Bay & the other three or more alternates or even Vrad himself in rage & anger retaliating for the concurrrnt events AFTER the chsngeback.
Just my thoughts.

Of course, a lot of this assumes that Brad liked girls originally. We actually know virtually nothing about Brad as a person. We’ve had exactly one line from Brad in the whole of the comic, in the flashback when he got changed. He could have been gay, we don’t know.
We DO know that Tom messed up his profile when attempting to fix the TGification back in the day, having accidentally overlayed Bay with the early “Dixie” version and having to correct from memory. If there was an archived backup, I’d have assumed he’d have used it there. As he didn’t, we can assume there isn’t.
Regardless, if you give Bay a new genes, new memories and new life, the end result isn’t Bay. If you copy Bay’s consciousness into Brad’s body, you result in either a) a restored Brad from Backup – He’d be Brad, but would have no memories or attachments to the last five years, and would not be Bay; b) tweaked Bay using an achived copy – you’d have Brad – with a completely imcompatible set of memories, plus social alienation for reacting differently to people he knows now. (Lose AG…much different if at all relationship to Honey, Jo, etc), plus still wouldn’t be Bay; and c)Bay in Brads body – which will redouble Bay’s gender dysphoria, which we had finally seen her getting over. Bay would swiftly find HERself uncomfortable in Brad’s body, especially with her newer emotions. She’d still lost AG, and possible alienate Honey (and others), and make herself miserable. – eventually something new would come out of it, but it wouldn’t be Bay. Not anymore.
Bay’s best choice, the only one that lets her keep everything and stay sane, is to say “No thanks, we have come to terms.”
in panel 1: “we’ll tweak her genetics, give her artificial memories, and let her live a new life elsewhere in the world.”
When you point out a typo, please make it clear which word/phrase is wrong. It took me a while to figure out what you even meant by this comment, lol.
sorry, I was just trying to help. by the way, how’d you get back from Africa?
Nah, no need to apologize.
Seko is surprisingly resourceful.
I was able to get him onto a MAC flight from the Africa command. Military connections come in handy.
Who says he left? That’s the great thing about Email.
but is lifing a life that isn’t really your life really lifing 🙂
what cha who now?
Lot’s of reader input in this one. Good to know SOMEBODY listens to us.
Why can’t we keep both bay and brad?
I think this wouldn’t work for two reasons:
1) Brad would be jealous of Bay getting to keep the life she’s currently living, with the man she loves.
2) Bay would be jealous of Brad getting to be a man again.
Elliot and Ellen managed to deal with that. Granted, Elliot was born boy scout and Ellen got their girl, but still.

Bay.exe has stopped working
All that stuff she never thought about, all at once, at the proverbial last minute.
I don’t think Bay wants to go back to being Brad. She i just in shock that she can after all these years.
No, Tom, there ISN’T an archived copy because you F*CKED that up, you Nimrod!
Even if there way, restoring Brad from an archive while giving Bay a new persona is essentially KILLING BAY!
I’m reminded of David Tennant’s line to Bernard Cribbins (Wilf) in the Doctor Who episode “End of Time Part One”:
“Even if I change it feels like dying. Everything I am dies. Some new man goes sauntering away…and I’m dead!”
Furthermore, let’s grant the archived copy includes the metadata included in the DNA taken from the hat: Brad returns BUT it’s Brad just before the change.

Same problem with clones, the clone will not be you, as the clone will have no memories, and must live a whole life from birth.
Keep Bay. Please keep Bay. Enough is enough. ;_;
