Bay Smith is a main character. Once a guy, she was turned into a girl several years ago. She keeps this fact a secret, and only a handful of people know.
She's now a struggling actress whose roommate is actually her daughter from an alternate future timeline.
Well this explains how Brad/Bay got the longer hair.
Also see from Monday’s comic that Tom lied to Brad when he said that they had checked the hair sample Brad provided. Or if they did check the sample they didn’t check the gender.
Buff must handle the longer hair and the breast upsize that Brad received. Wondering what else was changed besides the mental changes Tom did by accident.
Buff was something explained LONG ago when Honey visited HRC and first met Tom.
It’s an insulating material that forms between altered and unaltered genes. It degrades over time, but is meant to prevent issues in the incompatible genes resulting from temporary alterations (EG TG guns and what-not).
Remember, at this time, Brad has been Bay for only a month. Changing genders would be a serious genetic alteration
Hmm…”The’air” doesn’t seem right to me. I think it’s “Thair” like “That thair varmit”, but unforntunately, not even southern or redneck slang dictionaries seem to carry it any more. It is truly outdated slang.
He has done really screwed Brad up.
Given that this is a flashback, they are going to be able to restore Brad MOSTLY to what (s)he was before the rebuild.
Hmmm?

Or they did and it’s another thing Tom changed by accident.
Gah, now I’m trying to remember all the rules about Buff and Markers with regards to HRC tech.

Here’s a link to the comic explaining Buff. https://sailorsun.org/?comic=04012007
Thanks CD, yeah, I went back and did the retro-scan for more info. I just couldn’t decide if 82% buff was ‘good’ or ‘bad’…haha

I thought about this as well, but couldn’t figure out a better option. “Thair” kinda works, but I wouldn’t really say it’s any better.
Really, I think only Yosemite Sam knows for sure.
I interpreted the apostrophe as meaning that the word sounds sort of like it has an extra syllable/beat–“thay-air”.
I think it’s a pun. “The hair”
As an actual Redneck I’m somewhat certain it’s thar.
of course it does vary from state to state
That’s more of a deep south accented “there”. “The’air” is an attempt to textualize it in a Texan accent.
Ooh. I didn’t think of “Thar”. Silly me….and we have a match on the urban dictionary. It’s right “thar”, in black and white. We have a winner.
Thar – Another word for ‘there’, usually said when using an accent of some sort. Can also be Thars, which could be used to replace ‘there is’.
So that’s what Tom thought his dream Daisy should be.
I wonder how Tom is going to keep this secret from Dr. Gregory.
Sounds more like there is 82% Buff between Brad’s brain cells at the moment.
