Bay Smith is a main character. Once a guy, she was turned into a girl several years ago. She keeps this fact a secret, and only a handful of people know.
She's now a struggling actress whose roommate is actually her daughter from an alternate future timeline.
“I may have a woman’s body, but I’m a better man than you’ll ever be!” Wow, excellent job, Brad. Blackmail has no effect on someone who is willing to let the truth be known.
It took her awhile to admit this to someone else, but after the initial shock wears off on her sister, things could go well. At this point I don’t think Bay is too concerned with being changed back to male and genuinely enjoys her new life.
Okay, that brings up Mary Smith, Bay’s mom. Bay didn’t find her in Homeward Bound and she doesn’t seem to have gotten in touch with her since. This is kind of weird because Trav would certainly know Bay’s mother.
Maybe another trip to Canada is in order here. After the spill is cleaned up. And other messes. But definitely before the wedding.
I get the feeling that Bay has been intentionally staying out of contact with her mother. But now that her secret has been spilled to her sister, I imagine that Bay may stop thinking of her transformation into a woman as being a thing she needs to keep from her mother.
Especially since she sees how important Heather considers family, going so far as to try to de-estrange Bay and her deadbeat dad.
Yeah, which brings up a new question: What will heather find more upsetting, that her sister use to be her brother, or that Bay knew where her mother could be found but didn’t tell her?
How did my brilliant mind miss the implication that Heather would like to find her birth mother? I must go live in a cave. That is, if I can find an affordable cave in the Silicon Valley.
That’s how you put your foot in his ass. Yaa for Bay. Heather might be a little pissed about Bay not telling her about their mom though.
I also wonder what AG is going to think about this when and if he gets told.
I also like that the Dad loose end was taken care of. I still want to know why he did it though.
We might not get to know why, other than he was as much as a selfish bastard back then as he is now. His children, whetever or not he had ever told Heather the reason for kidnapping her, they may not even care to continue having anything to do with him now after this stunt.
Welp. Heather is shocked now, but we all know she’s gonna pressure Bay into telling Auction Guy, assuming she doesn’t disown her, what with the religious nut thing. I don’t think she will though, at least not before Bay gets to explain what’s happened.
Okay, “lives in Ottawa”. Present tense. I’d been wondering whether her restored memories after the amnesia story arc included her mother’s updated address (which hadn’t been made clear before), and that phrasing strongly indicates they do.
I’ve checked back on earlier pages and I think Bay’s actual real identity is “Bradley Alex Smith”. It’s on page 537, last panel on that tombstone: https://sailorsun.org/?comic=sailorsun-org-6
With all the timelines and implied alternate universes, maybe this Bay Smith (and maybe Berry Smith as well) started out as Bradley Alex Smiths. Or maybe the tombstone sculptor got the middle name mixed up, or decided “Bradley” wouldn’t fit. Or just possibly CD doesn’t remember that tombstone from years ago. Or maybe this CD isn’t the same one that made our page 537–maybe it fell through from a different universe?
I’m thinking Heather will be upset on several issues. One, that her dad was just using her. Two, that Bay had not told her about once being her brother. And three, getting married to auction guy which might not be an issue as Bay is a woman. Just depends on her beliefs and her feeling for family.
oohh SNAAAAP!
still her SON.. hmmmmm

Yeah, that’s my interpretation, too. Here’s hoping Heather doesn’t take this news too hard.

How did my brilliant mind miss…
Blame it on the Dunning–Kruger effect.

Until the next update, I’m going to be wondering how strong still is Heather’s willingness to forgive will be with dealing these revelations.
Bay might just be barely treading the surface but Dad is certainly about to join the Titanic down below!
Okay, this is good.
Next step: tell the guy you’re marrying you don’t actually know his name.

I discussed this with CD. The name on that tombstone has been retconned to Bradley Martin Smith.

I should think most stores are stationary, whether they sell stationery or anything else…
