Yeah, if you read the comments when it was first posted few people fell for it. I new it was a prank so I didn’t comment before. If it was real then it be on I dream of a Jeanie bottle too.
It was fairly obvious since it said both of your domains would be going, but that “The Melvin Chronicles”, which is hosted on jeaniebottle.com, would continue.
There is also the fact that the announcement was posted with a time stamp 11:50 on March 31. There were clue all over the place. It did get me for a second though.
Most of us suspected–but CD, I have to tell you, this particular trick is awfully tired, and has the smell of a person to old to care anymore about changing underwear and taking baths.
That was my problem with it. Yes I figured it was probably an April Fool’s joke…but so many webcomics just stop that there was a chance it was real.
Honestly, it just wasn’t funny. The red stamp on the notice just says “hah, you fell for it”. I was hoping we’d see a filler with the reason the comic was ending, such as CD being TF’d in some way that he couldn’t draw, or being carried off by irate cast members…something.
And the really good ones don’t drive away loyal readers, either. Anyone who deleted their bookmark because they were fooled is now unlikely to return and discover they’d be conned.
Dude, I did take this seriously. I’ve been reading this comic forever and was really bummed when I thought it was ending. Since so many other comics said they weren’t doing the April fools thing it totally went over my head. C.D., you are a dick and I love you for it.
I knew it was a joke. Considering I Dream of a Jeanie Bottle updated the day before and this notice wasn’t on that site as well, it was an obvious joke.
I wasn’t going to take it seriously until I heard that you had been buried. But do that sorta stunt much more & I may not be in a position to defend you.
Now that’s just cruel.
Grr!

The second comment, mine, called it yesterday.
Very funny now say your sorry with many update comics.
Well, I figured that was the case. In any case, kudos for making it look official.
The most recent jeannie bottle was posted 10 minutes after the one here, which gave it away to me.

I’ve had too many webcomics and blogs pulled out from under me for too many reasons to completely discount a notice like this.

What about a page with one of the main characters dying? That would have been a good april fools joke.
The good April Fools pranks are the ones that are somewhat believable, so its not obvious they’re a prank. This one was too far-fetched for that.

Figured as much, but you never know.
