A story element Mr. Rudd inserted in the plot a long time ago and people seem to have forgotten is that Bay’s emotions and sexual attractions experienced a shift after her helix was tinkered around with way back when. It’s entirely possible that in the course of correcting her problems, any remaining masculine elements in her biology and hormonal systems were revised leaving only her memories of being a man to support her maleness. Having already lived as a woman for three years with a daughter these weren’t very fresh or strong and her attraction toward muscular bodies took over. After that it’s been lucking on to a good match and realizing it.
