Bay Smith is a main character. Once a guy, she was turned into a girl several years ago. She keeps this fact a secret, and only a handful of people know.
She's now a struggling actress whose roommate is actually her daughter from an alternate future timeline.
When did Brad have time to acquire a bikini and what made him decide that he would need one? At this point in time he still thought that his transformation into a girl was only going to last a few days so why go to the trouble of getting girl clothes. After all the $25 dollars he was given would not go far.
At least Brad had the sense to wear one instead of doing the “soon-to-be-wet T-shirt with no bra” thing.
I find it interesting that the guys recognized him as a TG’d Brad immediately instead of asking “who’s the new girl?” The guy’s line in the last panel seems to imply that he hadn’t actually seen or heard about Brad getting TG’d prior to this scene, yet he still jumps straight to “this is Brad as a girl”, rather than believing that it’s somebody he didn’t know.
They recognized her through her actions. They called for Brad, then got a girl who acts exactly like Brad. In a world where transformation is far from uncommon, this is an entirely realistic response.
Where is this supposed to be taking place. Because last I recall, Brad was in America and America doesn’t spell “Harbor” with a U. Canada does, but also last we heard Brad never returned to Canada, because mom doesn’t know of the gender switch.
Well, there is a little bit of a back story for the motel’s name.
When I was sitting in my apartment in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia (a LONG time ago). I was looking out my window upon the Halifax Habour (which funnels into the Bedford Bisan). At the time I wasn’t familiar with the actual names. I thought it was a Bay, like the Bay of Fundy, or Hudson Bay. Hence, I decided to call my lead character BAY.
This means Bay is actually named after the Halifax Harbour.
So why is the motel named, Harbour Bay Motel… and not Harbor Bay…? Eh… we’ll say it was owned by an Englishman at one point. 😀
I think i know how this will turn out, but i’m not gonna spoil it.

My initial guess was that the bikini is borrowed from someone else. But that’s just a guess.

Where did these friends go in the last 5 years? Was the new Brad to cute not to hit on and they made it weird?
I suspect this particular flashback is meant to reveal that. Probably to show Brad losing his former friends and old life in general, bit-by-bit.
Brad is starting to learn just how much their life is changing and has changed already….
Brad’s friend: How did this happen?
Bay: Have you ever gone out for a night of drinking and woke up the next morning with a tattoo?

I’m going to guess fiction is going to reflect reality here. 😛
Close enough to get the job done.
Now I want to know why Honey is named Honey. Did CD See a bee? Did he name Honey after seeing a honey jar in his kitchen?
Could have been after watching the anime Cutie Honey.
