Compilation Book/Calendar/Something?
Well, those who don’t know, I’ve been layed up for a bit.
A couple weeks ago I had a skiing accident while down hill sking. The result? Well, I’ve injured my leg bad enough that it requires some significate surgery. I’m not hurting or in pain or anything like that; but till I get the surgery (which a date hasn’t been set yet) I’m stuck with a leg brace and having to be careful not to cause any more damange to it.
This means, all the activities I like doing (besides drawing), like skiing, diving, surfing, hiking etc…etc, I can’t do. This leaves me back to drawing. Yes, I could, can and probably will focus more on the storyline, and getting comics out. But it also means that I have extra time to draw, and sometimes I really don’t feel like drawing the story comics, Or I have writer’s block and want to draw something to take my mind off the story.
So I’m thinking about compiling a bunch of drawings into a book, calender, or something. And I’m looking for suggestions on what you would like to see in such an endevor. What kind of art, suggestions on Media and what you might be interested in (Not to include I Dream of a Jeanie Bottle, because I don’t want to worry about copyrights).
I am also adding on the site poll to see if there is any interest in a SailorSun.org Figure, (like the Wotch or Misfile’s figure). It would be a high quality figure similair to ones you see for comicbook characters in stores and conventions. This project would be totally Fan funded. If there’s enough interest, I’ll look into getting it set up and designing it. I’ll probably start a kickstart style fund raiser to get them made and sent out to those who want to purchase one. If you have suggests on a figurine, feel free to post those too..
Calendar. Two styles, one be bikini/beefcake (both in same pic, something for the guys AND the gals), the other be ‘snapshots’ of cast in various locations, OR, I’ve noticed the header art be seasonal, if you make those monthly, turn ’em into a calendar.
If you make a book, you will be stomped for touching up and such, so it would cause you more headache and grief over time. Go for a calendar or set of calendars, those be only 12 panels, or 13 if you make rollovers.
Figurines, come on, who can decide?!?!? Your chars are all great, hard to choose from just the gals let alone the guys.
As for copyrights, yeah, sadly, would be nice to have a calendar there, and I’d hate to see you get harassed by some greedy company…I mean COME ON, the show has been OVER for HOW LONG??? sheesh. pretty much public domain by now, and the interest in the show has INCREASED because of your comic, and your storyline is similar, tho come on…rather than having a genie, the bottle CREATED one from the one who attempted to summon…by accident or not, it’s a hilarious plotline…and unique, tho that wouldn’t stop the greedy [explative]s from trying to sue you. sad.
Offer autographed on the first 10 or so of each calendar. Maybe 20.
Keep up the good work, and consider calendars, they’re quick, easy, affordable, and the majority would be seeing it for a year.
