Grammer Nazi wanted
OK, ever since I’ve posted my spelling and grammar rant on ‘I Dream of a Jeanie Bottle’, it seems like everyone is going out of there way to find spelling errors and what not on the comics. And I’m getting a little tired of it.
So I’m putting out the word, that I will be looking for a official spell checker.
My problem is I can’t wait for a spell checker to get back to me to fix minor mistakes. Before posting. So here’s the skinny.
The spell checker will be responsible for fixing minor grammar mistakes themselves and then posting the comics on the websites. This will require the spell checker to have a working knowledge of a graphical editing program. Major problems, will be returned to me to be fixed.
This is a non paying position, but you will be credited on the website and have a say on the comics, website and other aspects of both web comic.
I think your efforts to improve the comic are admirable, but I’ve got to voice my opinion, despite the potential lynching from other members.
Personally, I don’t think it’s right to *ask* for someone to work without pay on a project that receives monetary compensation for its creator. I understand that all the donations go toward maintaining/improving the website, but seeing as the comic *is* the main focus of the website, anyone who does work on it should receive a portion of the proceeds.
Now, if someone *offers* to do the work without pay, then by all means let them.
This is just my opinion. Anyone is free to disagree, but don’t expect me to change my opinion by asserting your own.
Apologies to anyone I may have offended by voicing my opinion, I don’t want to be mistaken for another of those trolls that’s been plaguing the site.
I agree, and this is one of the reasons I hadn’t asked for help before. Mainly because I don’t have finances to pay for help. I pour in more money into comic, then I get out of it. Financially the comics are a bit of a black hole. Also paying someone to help with Jeaniebottle.com does open up a realm of legel issues I actively try to avoid. Remember, I dream of Jeanie is a copyrighted work. I have to be very careful not to infinge on that copyright, and not to derive profit from it. Paying someone could possibly open up a flood gate of ‘if you have money to pay someone to do something, then I must be getting income from the comic.
I’m sure whomever, (if anyone is interested) would see combinsation to some degree.
Have you considered adding paid adverts of some type to the site? I’m sure your readers wouldn’t mind so long as they weren’t those in-text things.
Personally i don’t think that you need someone to check your work mate, you do such a good job with all the comics that you have created and anyone that complains about the slightest inperfections deserves a good slap in the back of the head. Sure there might be a few spelling mistakes, and thats just what they are, mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes, and you know what who really cares. Anyway that’s just my opinion, good luck
Personally, I love your comic but would LOVE to help correct the text. Whilst to some people written accuracy isn’t important, to some people it really can detract from the comic since we’re the sort of people who can’t not read the error.
I work in education and help students with their spelling/grammar all the time, so I’d happily do it unpaid. In fact, I’d consider it a fair bargain, considering how much enjoyment I’ve got and continue to get from this comic.
Please contact me via the email from this post.
To those people who aren’t worried by the errors, having fewer (or no) errors won’t make your reading any worse, but it will make reading for those people who do care that much nicer, so everybody wins =)
Oooh, I’ve always wanted to be a Grammar Nazi. Where do I sign?
I’m on a computer almost 24/7, and I went to school for Graphic Design so I do have a working knowledge of programs. The only catch is my computer isn’t made for graphic programs, but for gaming ones, so I will need to work on buying and shifting my programs so I can get something better than MS paint. Also I’m willing to do it for free, on any of your comics. >.>;;
why not just plug all of the text into gmail or microsoft word before putting the text into the comic? it will correct your (actually extremely poor, just from reading what you’ve written in this thread) spelling, and a lot of your grammar, even, for you.
and, xing, the venus de milo had arms originally.
Hell, I’ve bugged you about it a couple of times, sorry X( However, I am a writer and I have a very good knowledge of Photoshop. I’d be willing to do it, though I’d need to know what font you use and at what size.
Although, anyone you get to do this for you will need to know that 😀
I am at home 24/7 and will help for free (Any comic) … I do not know how to photoshop, but can work by yahell IM and e-mail

Some of the spelling errors bug me from time to time, but the comic makes up for it. Not only is the story pretty cool, but the characters are memorable. I love the site. Anyone who has time to nit-pick at spelling errors should’ve just offered to spell check for you in the first place….
Assuming that you have Microsoft Office, why not type up the stuff on Word, run a spell check, then do a copy/paste onto the comic?
