Bay Smith is a main character. Once a guy, she was turned into a girl several years ago. She keeps this fact a secret, and only a handful of people know.
She's now a struggling actress whose roommate is actually her daughter from an alternate future timeline.
Room? Definitely (Canada is about 100,000 Sq. Miles larger than the US, with one tenth the population). Jobs? Not so much, though a large enough influx of people would likely cause an increase in demand for urban and residential construction.
He has a name. It is jus tBay and we do not know it. I am sure he had to put down something when getting his social security card, applying for a job or dealing with Bay’s immigration problems.
It was lose lose either way. Either we get the Bill Clinton 2.0 or we get the criminal wife of the original model. Seriously it it was a republican who pulled that kind of email shit they’d already be in jail and the key be thrown away. Trump is bad, but he’s Bill and Obama bad. Hillary already sold a large chunk of our nuclear materials to the Russians as Secretary of State, what would she give away in her pay for play scam as president.
Would you mind documenting that Hillary gave a large chunk of nuclear equipment to the Russians. I think you got your candidates wrong. It is Trump who the Russians’s patsy and it was Hillary who the Russians wanted desperately to keep out.
Actually if you’ve done research on fascists you would have noticed the same policies the Third Reich implemented are the same ones Mr. Clinton was going to try to pass.
Which policies are those? Nonsmoking campaign, hi-way construction? Socialized medican? Anti smoking campaigns? Ms. Clinton never started a war that costed a war that cost fifty to sixty million She never committed genocide against two groups of people, ( the Jews and the gypsies. She never killed 11 million people (six million jews, five million others. he never supplemented a raciest ideology that considered Arain superior and slaves and third world people subhuman. Those are the things we remember Hitler for, not his socialist medical plan, which is still in force and the Germans get excellent medical care. It is also a plan the insurance companies in the United State desperately want to implement in the u. s. a.
Its the Trump – he is beholden to nobody but himself. He sneered in the face of other Billionaires and laughed at Millionaires trying to buy him off.
He may be an obnoxious misogynist blowhard but he is not owned and paid for by the mega corps. So there is that.
Oh please, calm down and take a stress pill. Canada, if you think our health care/Obamacare is bad you are in for a major disappointment in Canada. You’re going to be very unhappy when you find out that you have to wait six months for an MRI and be on a waiting list behind dogs. That’s right, because MRI machines are so scarce in Canada, humans have to share access with animals. Also have fun trying to find a pulmonology practice north of the border. Having worked in the health care industry in a state bordering Canada I have personally seen many Canadians on our side of the border in search of medical care. god forbid you come down with any form of cancer because their ontology service is virtually nonexistent.
Speaking as a Canadian, we can appreciate most Americans as tourists, but we generally appreciate it when you leave our country again too. LOL. Most of us are looking at the American situation as one where “you’ve made your bed, and know you have to sleep in it.” Though of course, we Canadians are also watching what happens in the US, if only because what happens there tends to play out on the global stage, where all of the rest of us are impacted too.
And moving to Canada is certainly not simple for anyone thinking about it: first you have to apply to be allowed across so that you aren’t the illegal immigrant. This can take anywhere from 12 – 24 months to be processed, and that’s without a major influx of Americans wanting to live in Canada. Then if you are approved (and there is a long list of reasons why you may not be), you can look at moving here and finding a job (of which there may not be many, especially if our economy doesn’t pick back up). Either way, by the time your application is approved, Trump’s term may already be over in which case, what’s the point?
As for all the extra space we have, just to clarify most of that space is uninhabited for a reason: it gets friggin’ cold up there (where -40 F is a common daily temperature, like Alaska) which is why most Canadians huddle near the American border. It’s still cold there too, but not usually as bad. As a result, our urban centers are already crowded enough.
And that’s not touching on our health care woes as SFCGator already pointed out. Not to mention that handguns are also regulated, and assault rifles are completely banned from the country too. Hehe. So knowing all this, do you really want to still move here?
Hiya CD, really enjoy your comics. That said, was anything I posted in error? I understand that jobs are hard to come by north of the border. Also I worked in healthcare in a state bordering Canada so I speak from personal experience. Your fellow Canadian Nighthawke laid out the case pretty well.
Here’s my two cents on Health care… (Or Nickel, as we abolished the penny in Canada).
Is the Canadian Health care system perfect, NO. I don’t think there is a perfect health care system.
Is there medical treatments Canadians are getting in the US. Yes… There’s some procedures that are primarily done in the states, cause Canada doesn’t have the population/budget/cost per person to warrent the cost, when it’s cheaper to send the few who need the procedures to a place that is able to do it. IF you have an issue with your car that requires a major (expensive) piece of diagnostic/repair equipment, do you go out and buy it, or do you send your car to a place that has it and pay for them to do it?
Is there a long wait for MRI, Yes… cause MRI machines are huge and VERY expensive. And who has priority… the ones who have LIFE threatening issues. I had a busted up knee and needed a MRI. I had to wait 2 weeks to get into the MRI… who had major issues needed it more then I did, so my appointment kept getting pushed back… Dang those people who only had weeks to live, and kept my knee from being scanned… (BTW, that was a joke, I’d rather people who needs the MRI take priority).
Canada also has some specialities that US patients come to Canada to be helped…
Remember, Canada’s population is 36 Million. USA, 318 Million. Obviously the US will have more resources and medical experts then Canada.
I had to wait 6 months to see a knee specialist… does it suck yes… and if I had the money, COULD I have gone to the states and seen one sooner… probably. But I saw one… eventually.
Canada Vs US health care… I think of these two stories…
Canada: My nephew was born and had some issues which required a longer then normal hospital stay… The cost to my brother and sister in Law… The extra fee for a private room for the extended stay.
USA : A couple had a kid… No issues, everything was textbook. and the family was in debt and almost lost there house paying the hospital bill.
I’d rather have a wait or travel for special services, then be economically ruined.
CD, your hospital anecdote reminded me of something I saw recently. A father posted a pic of the bill for his wife’s C-section in (I think) Oklahoma. Total cost: $36,600. Then a Canadian chimed in and said his wife had the same procedure, and it cost him $16 (for two days of parking). The hospital didn’t charge him one thin dime for the procedure.
I wonder what the difference in taxes that family will pay in Canada is compared to the US, due to Canada having national healthcare? I honestly don’t know, but I’d wager real money on it being a hell of a lot less than the $36,600 + the cost of health insurance than the American family pays over the same years.
Keep in mind the Canadians have longer lifespans than Americans, do not go bankrupt and lose their house because of medical expenses and no Canadian is uninsured. They do have to wait a few more WEEKS for elective surgery but not in life threatening cases. If it is so bad why is there no calmer to replace it and why has no government, Conservative or
Liberal tried replace it.
Before you say, “If you like Canadian health care why don’t I move there.” I am on American medicare and American medicare is even better than Canadian medicare. I wish all American were on it.
A Trump presidency may not be as bad as many liberals think it will be. Many liberals are now favoring limited government power since he was elected. If congress can reduce the regulations on businesses, more people can start one. Businesses need employees and this can get more willing people back to work and making money. If his presidency doesn’t work out, well there is another election coming up in four short years.
Still, now that Trump has won the election, I can guarantee that you’ll see all the banks closed and soldiers marching in the streets inside of a week. And no, I’m not joking. Think about it.
I am not but sense Trump is a demagogic, sociopathic racist, almost a fascist who openly wars with the press openly encouraged his crowds to attack protesters, who is a thin skinned,d vengeance driven man child that does not know a damn thing forian policy and averages one lie every three to five minutes am afraid he might. His own campaign manager called him a man baby.
Remember this the man admire authoritarian leaders. This is the man wsho was quoted as asking three times, “If we have nuclear weapons why can’t we use them.
I voted for neither candidate, but I ultimately preferred that Trump would win.
That said, I think everyone should be able to appreciate the humor of this comic regardless of political position. It’s funny within the context of the comic’s current progression and could have been applied to either candidate as a mockery of the “If ____ wins, I’m moving to Canada!” threat Americans make every single year. Lighten up a little people.
Don’t worry Trump will be tweeting national security secrets in a Twitter rant within a week of taking office and people will be thinking Hillary was a security expert in comparison.
People c’mon give the man a break. This is The American Dream in action. A guy works his whole life and one day sees his country needs help, and makes a decision to do what he can using his “Business Savvy” to help his nation. The People spoke, I think some good may come of this.
Well what the people said was pretty much – yer all a bunch of crooks and we hate you!!! We will vote for – uh – this guy instead because we cant get Bernnie which we liked.
Trump’s “business savvy” is so wonderful that if he had put the money he inherited from his father (much less the under-the-table loans) in an index fund, instead of going out and trying to prove how brilliant he is, he would have several times the money he now has … and thousands of people and corporations that got hurt a lot worse than he did by his multiple bankruptcies wouldn’t have lost their money.
Aw common what’s the worst that could happen Yeah Republicans own House Senate and Presidency but why is that so bad that’s happened before in the 2000’s and 1920’s and nothing bad happened then. Yep nothing bad I mean it’s not like there was a massive crash or the U.S declared a crazy war in the middle east during those times no sir.
I just want to point out that the 1920s were actually a very economically successful period (“The Roaring 20s”) under more conservative Republican presidents Harding and Coolidge. The depression didn’t hit until Hoover, who was part of the Teddy Roosevelt “Progressive” wing of the Republican party and who attempted many interventions in the economy much as Bush and Obama did during the Great Recession. In fact, one could argue the interventions by Hoover/FDR and Bush/Obama are what made the Great Depression and Great Recession “Great” because there have been many, many economic recessions in American history, but they rarely last very long because most of the time the government avoids getting overly involved and lets the markets correct themselves.
I’ll give you the wars in the 2000s to a degree. But most of the Democrats in congress voted for Iraq too, and it was Republicans who voted against Obama’s attempts to get involved in Syria. I really don’t think the war thing is a partisan issue; I think both parties start wars to benefit their own agendas but try to undermine the wars of the other party as campaign props. Most Americans on both sides just want them to stop it already.
Disagree while it was WW2 that got us out of the Depression FDR’s Liberal policies helped quite a bit got a lot of Americans back on their feet and helped the economy he did not make it worse. Assuming that’s what you mean when you say FDR made the Great Depression “Great”. Also Government letting the market correct themselves did not help that’s actually what Hoover did he was a strong Conservative and shit just got worse the Government can’t stay absent during a depression.
Sounds pretty interventionist as opposed to laissez-faire conservative to me. Also, you cannot deny that Bush also worked to bail-out the failing institutions during the Great Recession, a policy that Obama continued.
Where is the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing? They have passed like rain on the mountain, like wind in the meadow. The days have gone down in the West behind the hills into shadow. How did it come to this?
I know this is just a “filler” but you should consider this as an actual plot twist. I think it would be interest to see how they adapt to a new culture.
That’d be hilarious. Or, even better, since we’ve referred to him as “AG” for a while, what if Guy is his middle name, and his first starts with an A? Then he’d be AG Marks!
I voted against Trump (and intensely disapprove of him), but the fact of the matter is that he won.
People need to stop getting so worked up before he’s even sworn the oath of office. By all means, plan and think ahead, but don’t get tunnel vision doing it.
Politicking aside, this page is funny because of the contrast between the “we’re moving to Canada” and the whole plot of this storyline being Bay wanting to rush the marriage in order to stay in the States.
You know, normally when elections are this close the other side will demand a recounting of the votes…kinda makes me wonder if those allegations of voter fraud where true if Hillary isn’t even trying for that option. I mean after all George Sauros, one of Hillary’s biggest supporters, did supply those electronic ballots and ballot reading machines in key red states, I mean if trump didn’t flip so many blue states then he wouldn’t have won at all.
The only reason that a recount was demanded in the 2000 election was because it literally came down to 300 votes in one county. It simply wasn’t that close this time.
I think I read that in New Hampshire the vote was tied to within a tenth of one percent, but the four Electoral votes from that state would not be enough to change who won the Presidency, so they’re not bothering to fight it.
there are always people contesting the results even when it isn’t that close, the reason that was got so much attention was because it was the closest amount and the one’s who didn’t want Bush Jr in were VERY vocal about it. Not as vocal as right now, but still.
OTOH In Canada we have this old joke: Living north of America is like getting the top bunk in prison. You’re always worried the guy below you could shove a shank up through the mattress.
Just imagine how we feel about getting a guy like D.J.T. as a new cellmate.
Considering how Mueller’s investigation is going as we come up on the one-year mark in the Trump “Presidency”, some poor Federal inmate may not have to imagine DJT as his bunkie.
“Poor federal inmate”?!?!?! Whoever shares a cell with Don the Con will own him in about a week. Tough talk means nothing to someone who’s got nothing to lose.
Is there enough room and jobs up there?
Room? Definitely (Canada is about 100,000 Sq. Miles larger than the US, with one tenth the population). Jobs? Not so much, though a large enough influx of people would likely cause an increase in demand for urban and residential construction.
I’m not sure Auction Guy should be wearing a USA T-shirt when he says that. Also, don’t you also need a name in order to move to Canada?
It was revealed that his last name is Marks. It’s the first name we’re all hunting for!
He has a name. It is jus tBay and we do not know it. I am sure he had to put down something when getting his social security card, applying for a job or dealing with Bay’s immigration problems.
Speaking of that, I just had a thought; what if Bay finds out his name before *we* do? CD… don’t do that. Just don’t.
I have never been so ashamed to be an American
It was lose lose either way. Either we get the Bill Clinton 2.0 or we get the criminal wife of the original model. You guys really need Spider Jerusalem at this point.
Quick Bay, get his name off his passport!
That’s brilliant!
The fascists won. Life is going to be hell.
Actually if you’ve done research on fascists you would have noticed the same policies the Third Reich implemented are the same ones Mr. Clinton was going to try to pass.

My advice to Donald Trump: Don’t screw this up! At least not worse than it already gotten! *Fingers crossed*
Not sure Donald Trump reads this comic.
Who knows? Donald Trump could be any of us with an alias.
Its the Trump – he is beholden to nobody but himself. He sneered in the face of other Billionaires and laughed at Millionaires trying to buy him off.

I think you guys are taking a funny comic joke a touch too seriously, here.
Plus if you can’t build an igloo, you might find it EXTRA cold in the winters 😀
The people who are attempting to move to Canada are not the people who tend to stock pile assault weapons.
You might remember 2 things about Canada & the comic…
1) Bay is ‘Canadian’,
2) CD Rudd (That Cool Guy) is also Canadian.

You are obviously referring to Veteran’s Day this coming Monday where all the banks will be closed and there will be parades honoring the troops.
